Mission Statement
– To recruit outstanding and promising participants to engage and succeed in the television and film industry, with special attention to enhancing diversity;
– To provide appropriate professional experiential learning experiences through supervised internships/apprenticeships in various departments;
– To provide ongoing support that enables participants to complete their degrees and to be competitive in the entertainment industry.
Program Goals
The goals of the TPS Dreamers Program include:
Work Experience
Gain an understanding of a “real world setting” by contributing to the studio’s day-to-day operations; Observe and complete multiple tasks assigned by the Department Supervisor; Gain more specific knowledge and skills required in the field.
Career Preparation
Practiced professionalism on a day-to-day basis (e.g., dress, punctuality, communication, and willingness to seek and grow from feedback, willingness to take on any task); Network with staff and crew; Gain valuable work experience to add to a resume; Update resume and cover letter to be prepared to apply for jobs and/or graduate school.
Fireside Chats
Each Friday, A TPS Guest Speaker will speak to the participants and share their experiences and advice.
Pitch Project Preparation
At the completion of the program, TPS DREAMER participants will present a Development Pitch Presentation to Creative Execs. Each Friday, the participants will have meet with their groups to work on their project.
Application of Learning
Providing an experience – Applied academic training, and university experiences, to the real-world television/film setting; Obtain feedback from supervisors and mentors about knowledge, skills, and practical application abilities.
Evaluation & Assessment
The TPS DREAMER Director will evaluate and review the participants’ strengths and weaknesses; Supervisors and mentors to evaluate progress, to process feedback, and to continue to develop as a new professional in the field.
Field Trip
One trip will be scheduled during the program.
